The element of fire is considered to be the first element that was born when the universe was created. Fire is attributed to transformational and purifying powers. It can give warmth and enable life, and it can also burn and destroy. The element symbolizes energy, activity, creativity, passion, freedom, power, love, vision, anger, strength, will, assertiveness, courage, and dynamism.

The Tofte fire-pit has been built in the shape of the ouroborus, the snake eating its’ own tail representing death and re-birth. In the centre under the fireplace lies the yin/yang symbol making this a space for working with the cleansing element of fire. The labyrinth and fire-pit are an important elemental part of the spiritual working tools of Tofte.
